The more we know, the more we don’t know. In this enlightened age, we tend to think we have found the answers to most questions, that we have researched every possible field. We may well avail ourselves of scientific formulas and statistical evidence for so much that goes on in our world. Yet we are still, or we should be still, in awe of Nature as it always comes up with surprises. Who can really forecast what the weather will actually be like? Who knows how ferocious the waves will be during a storm in the Atlantic? Who can predict how a tree will grow when it is still only a shoot? Who can tell how beautiful a flower will become when it is still only a seed? Nature is still uncharted, it cannot be wholly explained. And Nature always wins.
Cotton fabrics, some of them hand dyed; some are of African origin which seem to me close to Nature in their patterns and colours. The patchwork is machine sewed, with some hand appliqués. The hand quilting is done with Wonderfil spaghetti thread.
