Photographs from the CQ Challenge Diversity Exhibition at Tweeddale Museum and Gallery, Peebles
Contemporary Quilt sets a biennial challenge. The 2023 challenge ‘Diversity’ was chosen as it sums up the ethos of CQ. To encourage diversity in the making, quilts could be landscape of portrait but had to be a minimum of 50x50 cm and a maximum of 100x100 cm with any size between.
Members are very inventive in their quilt making, using all manner of materials and techniques from commercial fabric to plastic, and traditional piecing to wholecloth printing and dyeing.
The subjects covered range from diversity within the natural world, diversity of colour, materials and techniques, and the diversity of humanity.
