CQ Challenge for 2023 - DIVERSITY
Welcome to the 2023 CQ Challenge, 'Diversity'

There will be a charge of £15 per entry to the exhibition to cover cost of postage & transport of quilts to places of exhibition. The timetable is set out below under Key Dates. The closing date for entries is 20th October 2023, with the selection process and the Anne Tuck Prize taking place during November 2023. You will be notified if your quilt has been chosen by the end of November and all quilts are to be sent to the CQ challenge co-ordinator by mid-December 2023. - The work must be new and conform to the general definition of a quilt, being at least two layers with a reasonable amount of stitch holding the layers together.
- The edge treatment should be finished to exhibition standard and in keeping with the style of the quilt. E.g. it could be faced or bound or left raw depending on the style of your quilt.
- Size: minimum 50x50cm, maximum 100x100cm or anything in between providing there is no dimension less than 50cm or larger than 100cm.
- 3d: Peebles Art Gallery can exhibit 3d pieces, other venues have yet to be confirmed.
- Any styles, techniques, or materials can be used.
- A hanging quilt will require a 10cm wide D-shaped sleeve attached to the back, set 1.25cm from the top edge and 2.5cm from the sides unless it has an integral hanging sleeve. It must be able to accommodate a wooden batten. Details of how to make a D-shaped sleeve can be found on here. Display requirements for 3D pieces will be provided if they can be accepted.

It will be used in the selection process and in the sample books that are displayed at exhibitions. It must be labelled with your name and title of the quilt.
The Anne Tuck Prize
Anne Tuck was a founder-member of The Quilters’ Guild and also of Contemporary Quilt and her family donated funds for an annual prize in her memory.
The Anne Tuck Prize is awarded for an outstanding entry into Contemporary Quilt’s Challenge by an exhibitor with under three years' membership of CQ, and not an established textile artist. To be chosen at the time of selection for the CQ Challenge exhibition. The prize of £180 is to be used to enable the winner to attend a course or workshop to further their quilting skills.
The 2023 winner will be chosen from the quilts entered for the 'Diversity' CQ Challenge and their quilt will tour with the collection irrespective of whether it was selected for the main touring exhibition.
