Sometimes, serendipity plays a part in the creation of a textile piece. This upcycled bedspread was initially bucket dyed and then partially discharged. Logic said light should be at the top, but with the dark at the top, the feeling of a stormy sky became apparent. Screen printing of birds, followed by quilting and appliquéing more, satisfied the desired response to ‘Uncharted’, with the swallows enjoying a lack of rules and complete freedom of movement.
