An experimental design started after exploring various meanings of the word ‘Uncharted’. As the quilt is double sided, I wanted the design to travel from front to back through holes made deliberately in the machine quilted surface. The calligraphy written on the dyed cotton tape records the words and phrases collected during my original exploration of the theme.
Raw edged fabric collage using my own dyed and printed scraps, overprinted with lino prints of my own design. Free machine quilted. Holes cut for dyed and plain cotton tape to be drawn through, some of which has calligraphy linked to the theme. Cord also used for additional texture. Dyed cotton tape used as the binding.
