2021 has been a year of new beginnings and the opportunity to move my stitch studio from my home to a commercial premises. The quilt depicts the uncharted search for a new place – viewings, budgets, renovation plans, an auction and eventually a move to a new office style building on an industrial estate. Things never turn out as you expect; the studio is not on the high street, regenerating an old building, as was originally planned.
Reclaimed textiles including old curtain liners, charity shop embroidered linen, used clothing and curtain sample books. Wadding is acrylic felt. Fabric paint, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, appliqué. Estate agent pdfs on cotton printed by inkjet for panels on reverse. Indian block printed lettering.
