Lasers in the Jungle

Laser shows and a line from a Paul Simon song, The Boy in the Bubble, inspired this quilt.  I had been making prints from lino cuts I’ve recently started to do, and had several different prints of this chameleon, an ideal inhabitant for my jungle.

 

The three laser lines, the central one in blue, slice the darkness of the jungle and refract and split the images.  I also used, as well as the prints which are paper, hand-painted fabrics and commercial shiny fabric.  The quilt is hand sewn with a variety of threads, in four layers.
