Random Orange Logs
I chose the two colour wheel opposites of orange and blue combined with mixed media. I have been experimenting with collagraph printing techniques on fabrics for some time so used a piece of log cabin patchwork as a printing ‘block – various mainly recycled fabrics – linen, cotton, polyester, muslin, chiffon, organza, also Angelina fabric and paper, were printed with different shades of orange. The printed pieces were cut up, reassembled, layered and machine stitched over thin wadding. The synthetic fabrics were partly burned away with a heat tool. The blue line is acrylic (kunin) felt overlaid with sheers, chiffon, organza, net, machine stitched and burned with a heat tool, pleated onto the quilt. Machine wrapped copper wire, bent into geometric shapes are stitched into the blue area. The edges of the quilt are frayed as I like the feathery effect. Printed, patched and pieced, layered, burned, machine stitched and quilted.
