ROUND THY TABLE
Inspiration
The Mary Bloomfield Coverlet commemorated an extremely sad situation that I found dispiriting. However, the embroidered phrase “thy children like olive plants round about thy table” suggested a counterpoint to this general tenet of sadness. To me, it described the pleasures of sitting under the warm dappled shade of an olive tree, sharing a meal with family, and the generally uplifting nature of warm sunlight. I have tried to convey this idea in the quilt.
Materials and techniques
Hand dyed pre-loved fabrics
Leaves printed using olive leaves
Printed text, bonded circles.
Machine stitched
