HIDDEN (HIS)STORIES
Inspiration
I looked at the various parts of the original quilt - the design, colour and techniques. I decided to concentrate on the text element as that interested me the most but I knew I had to include a focal point - which I have done. The more I thought about what I could use and include, the more it intrigued me.
I decided to use my own writing (but in a modern way) rather than embroidery and I believe it has worked well. As the hanging was quite small in size,
I didn't want to overcrowd the piece and I am happy with the result. It has been a challenge as I don't often do such pieces of work but it has been a very enjoyable outcome.
Materials and techniques
Commercial and hand dyed fabrics
Screen printed text using own designs
Applique
Machine work but mainly hand quilted
