Riptide
A riptide is a strong undercurrent flowing outward from the shoreline. Often channelled between off shore sandbars, these currents can be both unpredictable and deadly by nature.
Stencilling using acrylics, my sandbars create a resist pattern around which diluted silk paints have been allowed to flow and mix freely, emulating nature's processes. once dry, gold 'flotsam' was overprinted providing the illusion of (water) depth. Hand dyed cotton sateen, free cut, machine pieced, layered and machine quilted. Back |
