Cracking Up
I love working with colour and get a real buzz from the way that colours react with each other. I wanted my thin, blue line to leap out from a background field of colour. Hoarded offcuts of fabric become my palette of colours. When held roughly into place with stitch they make a very textured surface.
For this piece small snippets of fabric shading from deep burgundies and purples through reds to orange with a tiny amount of bright blue were arranged and stitched to make five long strips. These strips were then tied together, with various coordinating yarns, to achieve the required width. Back |
