My Studio
This summer (2009) the builders have been converting our old foundry that we bought a couple of years ago into a studio and flat. All my equipment and treasured texyile possessions had to be put into storage, leaving me without any equipment to make quilts. (I did bring my sewing machine, paints and some thread into the house!) The builders finally 'broke through' to give me a large window and new door to my studio.
Whilst in an art shop I bought a sheet of paper that looks like a fabric. I realised I could paint on to the paper and then stitch into it. A breakthrough for me! My studio is now finished, all my things are back in lace, and the quilt is finished. So maybe a productive summer after all. I drew my images on to paper and painted with acrylic paint, and then quilted by machine. The paper was bought from Paperchase and the wadding is industrial felt. Back |
