HOW TO MEND A BROKEN HEART
Inspiration
Fragmentation - fragmented - disintegration - - split - splinter - shattered - breaking up - broken
Who hasn't suffered a broken heart?
And how do we mend a broken heart? We sew it back together with love and kindness, patience and understanding.
Materials and techniques
Apart from the backing, all fabrics used in this quilt are vintage cotton sheets which have been dyed with procion mx dyes and printed with thickened dyes
The red/orange fabrics were randomly cut into "shards/slivers" and applied to the background fabric using fusible webbing. They were then secured with a stitch using various shades of Paint-Box Threads.
The quilting within the heart "shards" is free machine quilting. All quilting uses Superior Threads Kung Tut colour number 972
