WHILST THE WORLD FRAGMENTS
Inspiration
When the Covid-19 virus began to circulate outside of China at the start of 2020 we were in India, taking a holiday of a lifetime. Oblivious to the dangerous and rapid spread of this pandemic we explored cultural and culinary delights whilst the rest of the world was fragmenting around us. Lockdown restrictions across Europe then created obstacles to normal lives on our return. My quilt is a personal reflection of the dangers of this strange detachment from normality, which travel can offer.
Materials and techniques
Wholecloth made from ice-dyed Radiance silk and cotton blend. Wool wadding. Glide trilobal polyester thread. Hand-guided free motion stitched on a longarm quilting machine. Hand stitch with cotton perle with bead embellishment.
