FREEDOM
Inspiration
Fragmentation in multicellular organisms = asexual reproduction in which a cell is split into fragments, each developing into individuals that are identical to their parents....BUT asexual reproduction does not work with ponies, so I thought - Fragmentation = Disintegration into Fragments hence my multicolour pony was created. Some years ago, a ceramicist friend Gabrielle and I shared an exhibition "Tiles from Textiles and Textiles from Tiles", the pony drawing was the original "sketch" for her pony ceramic, textured with hessian etc. At last inspired to use it in textile my FREEDOM pony was born and fragmented as he ran.
Materials and techniques
Commercial and home dyed cottons fabrics, applique, machine embroidery.
80/20 wadding, cotton backing, quilted.
