Why?
In our ‘free’ society almost immediately a child is born restrictions are imposed. At school we may be given lines for not being in line. We have to sit in lines, draw straight lines, follow the line and line up. At work a line manager may dismiss us for not toeing the line with reminders of the three line whip. Drivers must not overtake on double lines, park on yellow lines and watch out for broken lines. In airports we must join the correct line. These restrictions help our complicate world run more efficiently but sometimes they appear to be pointlessly bureaucratic and we want to rebel, to step over the line, to question why.
