Lead Line in Antarctica

Lead lines through the ice allowed explorers access to Antarctica.  Expeditions, both successful and less successful in this bare environment almost 100 years ago, are remembered in my quilt. 

Technique: silks, cottons, mixed fabrics, some machine embroidery, machine pieced, hand quilted.
