Fractured Landscape
This design developed from drawn and painted broad lines of the landscape undulations observed when moving through the local East Kent countryside. The lines echo the splits and cracks (fissures) of the geological formations of the land. I became aware of the similarity of the drawn and painted lines with the strips of silk cloth which I had been working with for many years in my quilts.
Cotton and silk fabric. Strips machined to tie-dyed cloth and quilted to background. Back |
