The theme ‘Uncharted’ brought to mind a disappearing grid, leaving a void with shapes drifting in space. Having played with floating designs, I reverted back to a grid of repeating shapes, with rectangles made up from triangles. The holes link the front and back together, being visible from either side. This original design was based on my sketch of a spirit level. It was repeated, rotated and turned. Individual elements were manipulated, traced and repeated. The holes in the quilt represent the bubbles in the spirit level. The triangular shapes appeared during the design process.
