Smethwick Galton Bridge
Breakthrough was conceived one dark, cold evening whilst I was waiting for a connecting train on the Smethwick Galton Bridge railway station. The saving grace for this stark station was a huge collection of colourful windows. As a distraction I photographed them, recording the shapes, the free and frantic marks on the windows, no area being the same, devoid of repetition. This activity has taken me on a creative journey of experiments. The outcome has offered the same energetic mark making observed but the colours have changed, and from a cold dull ad desolate place I have tried to produce something bright and vibrant.
Layers of printing with applied shapes have allowed different textures, surfaces and colours to break through. Back |
