CQ Challenge for 2026 - Evolve
The year 2027 will see CQ’s 25th anniversary. As part of our celebration, we have applied for a stand at FOQ. This will exhibit successful quilts from this challenge. With this in mind, here is early notification of its theme, ‘Evolve’. In case you are not familiar with the CQ Challenge, it is a curated event open to all members. The selected quilts will be exhibited at various locations in the UK during 2027 (after FOQ) and 2028. This is a golden opportunity to show your work, especially at FOQ, and to promote CQ.
So, we are giving you time to think about the subject, contemplate your design, discuss with fellow quilters, and decide if you are going to jump in and take up this challenge. Rules of entry and key dates will be published in our March edition and the entry form on our web site: contemporary quilt.org.uk. The end date for submission of entries is March 2027. A 20cm square sample, using the same fabrics and techniques as the main work, must be submitted. Samples demonstrating the look and feel of your quilt are used by the exhibition curators to assess submitted quilts, alongside photographs of the final work. This is an essential part of the selection process. Books of all samples are displayed at exhibitions and greatly appreciated by our audiences. Label your sample with your name and the quilt title.
Finished quilts must measure 120 x 60cm. When you are planning, please remember that you need sufficient fabric to make a sample.
